. We can now connect with people all over the world to get opportunity that we did not have in the past. As King says, “A teenager today with a mobile phone can access information quicker than the president of the United States could 15 years ago” (King). The amount of information that we are able to store and access with because of the internet and technology is tremendous. We are also now able to pay for things without having cash on hand, get in touch with others across the world, and much more. Technology is also helping us make tremendous advancements in the medical field, and other very crucial fields for our society. There is no doubt that technology is doing great things for our society, and has the potential to do much more.

  So if technology is great and distraction is necessary for our society, what is the point of this paper? We cannot afford to get rid of technology, and distraction has always been around, so why would we change anything?

Technology is a very useful tool, but the younger generation is abusing it, and becoming over-dependent on it, which is creating a distraction from the real world around them. The addiction to technology is what is causing the unfocused, less intelligent, less productive society who is now moving away from intimate relationships. And let’s think about it… The draw to their phones that is causing havoc for this younger generation is not anything productive on their phones. It is Twitter, Snapchat, games, checking their email constantly, texting, and other pointless things that are distracting them. We need to move away from using our phones and other technology for pointless things, as they are what is causing such problems within our society, mainly regarding the younger generation who is abusing the technology.
